Betel nut is an evergreen tree of the genus Areca in the palm family. It is native to Malaysia and is mainly distributed in Southeast Asia, tropical Asia, East Africa and parts of Europe. In the Pacific region, it is mainly distributed in Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Vanuatu and Micronesia. In China, betel nut is mainly distributed in tropical areas such as Yunnan, Hainan and Taiwan.
